Venus Retrograde: Venus goes underground today

Something shifts today. On October 3rd, Venus stations retrograde in the early degrees of Scorpio. On October 25th she slips back into Libra, and in mid-November she turns direct again. For about six weeks, the planet of love, beauty, value, and worth walks backward. She doesn't take anything away when she does this. She asks us to look again. And this time, she's asking us to look somewhere deep.

Venus in Scorpio: the descent

Venus isn't exactly comfortable in Scorpio. Traditionally, this is her sign of detriment, the place where she has to work hardest to be herself. Venus loves ease, pleasure, and harmony. Scorpio wants truth. It wants depth, intensity, and all-or-nothing intimacy. It isn't interested in pretty if pretty isn't real. So when Venus turns retrograde here, she goes underground. She asks us to look at the parts of love we don't usually post about: trust and the fear of losing it, jealousy, the ways we hold on too tightly, what we've quietly buried to keep the peace. Scorpio also rules what we share with others. That can mean money, debts, and resources, but also energy and emotional weight. You may notice where you've been carrying more than your share, or where you've been afraid to ask for what you need. Underneath all of it is worth. Do I believe I deserve love that sees all of me?

This part of the retrograde can feel heavy, and that's okay. Scorpio energy doesn't ask us to fix anything quickly. It asks us to stop looking away.

Back into Libra: returning to the scales

On October 25th, Venus backs out of Scorpio and into Libra, one of the two signs she rules. Here she's at home. If Scorpio is the descent, Libra is the slow walk back up into the light. The questions soften, but they don't disappear. They shift from what's hidden? to what's fair?

This is where we look at balance in our relationships. Who gives, and who receives? Where have we kept the peace at the cost of our own voice? Libra knows the difference between real harmony and simply avoiding conflict, and this retrograde may show you which one you've been living.

It's also a beautiful time to revisit beauty itself. Your space, your style, the art and music you've drifted from. Not to buy something new, but to remember what actually makes you feel like you.

Venus turns direct in Libra in mid-November, and what we've uncovered starts moving forward again.

Where Venus Retrograde lands for you: a guide by rising sign

Your rising sign tells us which areas of your life this retrograde moves through. First the Scorpio house, then the Libra house as Venus backs into it. I'm using whole sign houses here. If you don't know your rising, read for your Sun sign too.

Aries rising

Venus moves through your 8th house of intimacy and shared resources, then your 7th house of partnership. Trust may be the theme. Where do I let someone all the way in, and where do I hold back? Agreements with a partner, romantic or business, may want an honest second look.

Taurus rising

This one is personal for you, since Venus rules your chart. She moves through your 7th house of committed relationships, then your 6th house of daily rhythms and the body. You may see a relationship more clearly than you have in a while. Then the attention turns inward: are your routines actually caring for you?

Gemini rising

Venus moves through your 6th house of work and daily life, then your 5th house of romance, creativity, and play. You might notice where your days have lost their tenderness. Later in the season, an old creative passion or a past love may come back to mind. What used to light you up?

Cancer rising

Venus moves through your 5th house of pleasure, creativity, and romance, then your 4th house of home and family. Old feelings around love and self-expression may surface first. Then the focus softens toward home. You may want to tend your space, or revisit something unspoken with family.

Leo rising

Venus moves through your 4th house of home and emotional roots, then your 3rd house of everyday conversations and siblings. Family patterns around love may rise to the surface. Then words matter. A conversation you've been putting off may finally feel possible, and gentler than you feared.

Virgo rising

Venus moves through your 3rd house of communication, then your 2nd house of money, values, and self-worth. Notice how you speak to the people close to you, and how you speak to yourself. Later, a real reckoning with worth. Am I valuing myself, or just what I produce?

Libra rising

Venus rules your chart, so you'll feel this one closely. She moves through your 2nd house of money and self-worth, then your 1st house of self and body. You may question what you truly value, and what you've been settling for. Then she lands right on you. Your image, your body, how you show up. Be tender with yourself here.

Scorpio rising

The retrograde begins right on your 1st house, then moves into your 12th house of rest, dreams, and the hidden self. You may feel more exposed than usual, more aware of how you're seen and loved. Then the energy turns inward and quiet. Rest isn't avoidance this season. It's part of the healing.

Sagittarius rising

Venus moves through your 12th house of solitude and the subconscious, then your 11th house of friendship and community. Old longings may surface in dreams or quiet moments. Later, you may revisit your circle. Which friendships nourish me, and which have I outgrown?

Capricorn rising

Venus moves through your 11th house of friends and community, then your 10th house of career and public life. You may notice where you give more than you receive in your groups. Then the question turns to your work. Do you actually love what you're building, or just what it looks like?

Aquarius rising

Venus moves through your 10th house of career and reputation, then your 9th house of beliefs, learning, and meaning. You might rethink what success means to you, or a work relationship may need attention. Later, you may feel called back to a teacher, a practice, or a place that once opened your mind.

Pisces rising

Venus moves through your 9th house of beliefs and spiritual path, then your 8th house of intimacy and deep healing. You may revisit what you believe about love itself. Then things go deeper. Shared money, emotional ties, and old wounds may ask to be felt, not fixed.

Ways to move through it gently

While Venus is in Scorpio, go slow and go honest. Journal on what you've been holding onto, and why. What am I afraid would happen if I let it go? You don't need to act on anything yet. Just let yourself see it. Once she's back in Libra, turn toward balance. Notice one place where you give more than you receive, and one place where you could ask for more. Tend your space. Put on the music you used to love. And through all of it, revisit before you replace. Before you end something old or chase something new, ask whether what you already have simply needs your attention.

If you'd like company along the way

Scorpio energy can be a lot to hold alone. The body often feels it before the mind can name it. Yin is a lovely place to practice staying. You hold a shape a little longer than feels easy, and you let what rises simply rise. Check out our schedule here

Reiki offers a softer kind of support, a quiet space for the nervous system to settle while all of this moves through. And if you're curious how this retrograde touches your own chart, beyond your rising sign, that's exactly what my AstroReiki reports are for.

Wherever this season takes you, I hope you let yourself look. Gently, honestly, and with love.

With gratitude from Green Lotus, xoxo
