The Ground Has Shifted: New Moon in Taurus, May 16, 2026

Green Lotus Yoga & Wellness | Bradley Beach, NJ

Something quieter is arriving this weekend. Saturday, May 16, 2026 at 4:01 PM, we have a New Moon in Taurus. And not just any New Moon, this one is a supermoon, meaning the moon is closer to Earth than usual. The energy is amplified. The seeds you plant this weekend take root more deeply than they would on an ordinary new moon.

I've been feeling this one coming for a few weeks now. Maybe you have too.

The ground actually moved

A few weeks ago, Uranus, the planet of sudden change and revolution, left Taurus for the first time in seven years and moved into Gemini. So many of you wrote to me after that post. You felt it. That restlessness. That sense of something turning over underneath you. Uranus spent seven years in Taurus disrupting our relationship with our bodies, our resources, our sense of what's solid and real. Now it's moved on. And this New Moon is the first one we're having since that shift, like the first quiet morning after a long storm.

Taurus is asking: okay. The ground moved. Can you find your footing again?

What's being activated: in the sky, in the body, in the energy field

Here's what I love about this work. Whether we're talking about astrology, the chakra system, or traditional Chinese medicine, they're often describing the exact same thing, just in different languages. And this New Moon is a perfect example of that.

In astrology, Taurus rules the neck, the throat, and the jaw. It's a Venus-ruled sign, sensory, grounded, attuned to beauty and pleasure. New Moons are planting time, and this one is asking us to plant something in the area of the body where we hold our voice.

In the chakra system, that's Vishuddha, the throat chakra. The fifth chakra is the energetic seat of authentic expression. It's the bridge between the heart and the mind, between what we feel and what we actually say. When it's open, we communicate clearly and honestly. When it's blocked, we swallow things. We get tight in the neck and shoulders. We say I'm fine when we're not. We shrink our needs down to a size that won't inconvenience anyone.

In traditional Chinese medicine, which Yin Yoga is based from, the lung meridian runs through the chest and throat, and the lungs hold grief. Every exhale is a release. Every inhale is a choice to receive something new. When we're chronically stressed or ungrounded, when we've been holding and bracing and running on empty, our breath gets shallow, our chest closes, and that whole region goes quiet. If your breath has been shallow lately, if you've been holding, bracing, running on fumes, your body is speaking. Taurus is asking you to slow down enough to listen.

Yin yoga poses that work with this area: heart bench, melting heart, sphinx, saddle, or any chest opener held long and slow. Not to push. To open.

Three different maps. Same territory.

Your throat, your voice, your breath, your ability to say what's true, that's what this New Moon is here to tend.

Ask yourself honestly: What have I been swallowing? What hasn't been said?

Not to anyone else, necessarily. Just to yourself, first.

Where this lands for YOUR rising sign

This is the part I love most, because a New Moon doesn't land the same way for everyone. It activates a specific area of your life based on your rising sign (your ascendant, the sign that was rising on the eastern horizon when you were born).

Your rising sign is the most personal timing tool in astrology. If you don't know yours, you can find it free at astro.com or astro-seek.com you'll need your birth time and birth place..

Check your rising sign below, and notice what comes up in your body when you read it.

♈ Aries Rising This New Moon lands in your second house, the house of money, self-worth, and what you value. The invitation is to set intentions around your relationship with your own resources. Not just financial, but energetic. What do you actually have? What are you worth? The throat chakra work here is real: Aries risings often lead with action and forget to ask for what they need.

This moon is asking you to use your voice to claim your value.

♉ Taurus Rising The New Moon is in your first house, your body, your identity, the way you show up in the world. This is one of the most personal placements possible. You are the one being renewed. Intentions set now around how you inhabit yourself, your health, your physical presence, how you feel in your own skin, have extraordinary staying power. Come home to your body. This moon is for you.

♊ Gemini Rising This one lands in your twelfth house, the house of rest, retreat, release, and the unconscious. Not the flashiest placement, but one of the most profound. The twelfth house is where we process what we haven't dealt with. This New Moon is asking you to release before you receive. Rest is the intention. Stillness is the practice. What are you carrying that was never yours to hold?

♋ Cancer Rising Your eleventh house is being activated, community, friendships, belonging, your larger vision for the future. Cancer risings feel things so deeply in their bodies; this moon is asking you to let other people in. The manifestation here is relational. Who do you want to be surrounded by? What community feels like home? Plant that seed.

♌ Leo Rising The New Moon falls in your tenth house, career, public life, how the world sees you, your purpose. This is a powerful placement for setting intentions around your work and what you're building. Leo risings often know what they want but wait for permission. This moon says: stop waiting. Set the intention and let it root.

♍ Virgo Rising Your ninth house is lit up, the house of expansion, philosophy, long-distance travel, higher learning, and meaning-making. Virgo risings can get so caught in the details that they forget the bigger picture. This New Moon is an invitation to dream wider. What do you believe is possible for your life? Set your sights further than feels safe.

♎ Libra Rising This New Moon lands in your eighth house, transformation, shared resources, intimacy, and what we hold in common with others. This is deep water for Libra risings who prefer harmony on the surface. But the eighth house rewards honesty. What needs to transform in a relationship, a financial entanglement, or your relationship with your own shadow? This moon wants you to go there.

♏ Scorpio Rising Your seventh house, partnerships, one-on-one relationships, marriage, business partnerships, is being seeded. Scorpio risings feel everything, but don't always let others meet them. This New Moon is asking you to set intentions around what you want with someone else, not just what you want alone.

What does a true partnership feel like in your body? Invite it in.

♐ Sagittarius Rising The sixth house is activated, daily rhythms, health, the body, work, and how you care for yourself in the small moments. This is perfect Taurus New Moon energy: slow, sensory, grounding. The manifestation here isn't big and dramatic, it's a better morning routine, a body practice that actually sticks, a work rhythm that feels sustainable. Small seeds. Deep roots. That's the Taurus way.

♑ Capricorn Rising Your fifth house is lit, creativity, joy, play, children, romance, self-expression. Capricorn risings can be so focused on what they're building that they forget to enjoy the process. This New Moon is an invitation to set intentions around pleasure. Actual pleasure. What makes you feel alive and delighted? Plant that. It's not frivolous, it's essential.

♒ Aquarius Rising The fourth house, home, family, roots, belonging, the foundation beneath everything is being seeded. Aquarius risings often feel most comfortable in the abstract, in ideas, in the collective. But this moon is asking you to get personal. Where do you feel truly at home? In a place, in a body, in a relationship? Set an intention for that feeling.

♓ Pisces Rising Your third house is activated, communication, the local community, siblings, the way your mind works, and how you share ideas with the people around you. Pisces risings often receive so much intuitively but struggle to translate it into words. This New Moon, with Taurus' Venus-ruled steadiness, gives you the grounding to do exactly that. What do you need to say? To your neighbor, your sister, your boss? Your voice matters here.

Did you find yourself in one of these? I'd love to hear what's coming up for you. Come find me at the studio, or share this with someone who needs it.

A simple practice for this weekend

Taurus doesn't ask for intensity. It asks for presence.

Find somewhere to be still, outside if you can. Barefoot on grass or sand if the weather allows. One hand on your throat. Breathe slowly and notice: is that space tight or soft? Don't try to change it. Just notice.

Then hold one question quietly:

What has been waiting in me to be said?

You don't have to answer it. You don't have to do anything with it yet. New Moons plant seeds in the dark. Something will grow.

Come be with us

If you want to do this work in community, with other people who are tending to their bodies, their energy, and their lives in real time, we're here.

Whether you've never been on a mat or you've been practicing for years, there is a place for you here. That's what we are, a place to come back to yourself, surrounded by people doing the same thing.

This weekend we have classes and a sound journey to help support you.

The ground shifted. Come find your footing.
