Into the Deep: Scorpio Season, Mercury Retrograde & the Taurus Full Moon

Can you feel it?

I’ll be honest: I’ve been feeling it too. This week, after a hard stretch at my 9-5. I had one of those moments where I wanted to pack it all up, and escape deep into the woods. Then I recognized it. That’s Scorpio. That all-or-nothing pull to burn it down is usually a sign that something is ready to go, just not necessarily everything. When everything feels like too much, it’s rarely everything. It’s usually one or two things we’ve been carrying too long, quietly asking to be set down.

scorpio season

Late October has a way of pulling us inward. The light shortens, the air turns, and the ocean here in Bradley Beach starts to look a little darker and a little more honest. This year the sky is matching that mood.

  • October 3: Venus turns retrograde in Scorpio

Four shifts arrive within four days:

  • October 23: the Sun enters Scorpio and meets Venus at the heart of her retrograde

  • October 24: Mercury stations retrograde, also in Scorpio

  • October 25: Venus slips back into Libra

  • October 26: the Full Moon rises in Taurus, the sign Venus rules

If you’ve been feeling tired, tender, restless, or suddenly very clear about something you’ve been avoiding, you’re not imagining it. There’s a lot moving through the collective right now.

Scorpio Season: The Invitation to Go Deeper

Scorpio is a water sign, and like water, it finds its way into every crack. This is the season of what lives beneath the surface: grief, desire, power, and the quiet truths we usually keep to ourselves. Libra season asked us to find balance with others. Scorpio turns the question inward:

What am I still carrying that I haven’t really looked at?

Scorpio has a reputation for intensity, but I’ve come to see it differently. It isn’t asking us to suffer. It’s asking us to stop pretending. And there is real relief in finally naming what’s been sitting in the dark.

Venus Retrograde: What Is Still Worth It?

Underneath all of this, Venus has been quietly walking backward since early October. Venus rules what we love, what we value, and what feels worth it: our relationships, our work, our homes, the lives we’ve built.

When Venus retrogrades, she asks us to look again. Not to throw it all away, but to re-examine.

Do I still love this? Is it still nourishing me? Or am I holding on out of habit, obligation, or fear?

On the night of October 23, the Sun meets Venus at the very center of her retrograde. Astrologers often see this as a kind of rebirth, the moment a new cycle of the heart quietly begins. If you’ve felt yourself questioning everything lately, this might be why. Something in you is sorting what still belongs from what’s ready to be released. So be patient with yourself. Venus doesn’t turn direct until November 13, the same day Mercury does. This is a season for feeling and noticing, not for big final decisions. Let the questions breathe. The answers tend to arrive more clearly once the planets start moving forward again.

Mercury Retrograde in Scorpio: The Conversations We’ve Been Avoiding

Yes, back up your phone and double-check your emails. But in Scorpio, this retrograde is less about crossed wires and more about the conversations we keep putting off, with the people we love and with ourselves.

Old feelings may resurface over the next few weeks. A memory, a conflict, a question you thought you’d settled. Rather than pushing it away, see if you can get curious.

What is this here to show me?

Often the truth we’ve been circling is far gentler than the energy we’ve spent avoiding it.

The Full Moon in Taurus: Coming Back to the Body

And then, just as things start to feel heavy, the Full Moon rises in Taurus, Scorpio’s opposite. Taurus is earth: steady, sensual, patient. Where Scorpio digs, Taurus grounds.

This Full Moon isn’t asking you to uncover anything more. It’s asking you to let what you’ve already discovered settle into your body. Take a slow walk. Put your bare feet on the earth (or the sand, if you’re lucky enough to be near it). Eat something nourishing, slowly. Rest. And because Taurus is ruled by Venus, this Full Moon carries her softness, too: a reminder that what we truly value can be felt in the body, in simple pleasures, rest, and beauty.

A few questions to sit with under this Moon:

  • What has risen to the surface for me this week?

  • What am I ready to release, and what am I ready to keep?

  • Where in my body do I feel this, and what does that place need?

It’s tempting to treat a stretch like this as something to survive. I’d invite you to see it as a doorway instead. What comes up in Scorpio season is often what we’re finally strong enough to hold.

Be gentle with yourself • Move slowly •

Let things be messy for a little while.

If you’d like support moving through it, whether that’s a quiet yin class, a Reiki session, or an AstroReiki session where we look at how these transits are moving through your own chart, the door at Green Lotus is always open.

With love from the shore,

Sharyn
